Visitation and care-giving in our congregation take many forms. We think most often of visiting shut-ins, or individuals in personal diffficulty or medical crisis. But visitation really includes all the ways we keep up with each other. We show we care as we bother to ask how others are doing (and stop to listen to their answers!) Visitation also includes phone calls, e-mail contact, whatever ways we can communicate our concern for each other. We have a Visitation Team, but all of us engage in care-giving and visitation in one form and to some degree.

Our September 10 workshop with Maureen McCarthy will be a good opportunity to think and share about what it means to us to be visitors and care-givers. So don't assume that if you don't feel comfortable visiting nursing homes that this workshop is not for you! Please plan to attend and participate.

The workshop begins with a breakfast in Boruk Hall, served by the Visitation Committee. Please call the First Friends office in advance, to let us know if you plan to attend. That will help in our planning. We plan to finish by 11:30 AM. This is one of the stimulating and refreshing ways we will begin the new meeting-year together. See you there!
