Thanks!

At our May Monthly Meeting, we were presented with the report of our Nominating Committee: a roster of officers, clerks, commisions, committees, coordinators, and representatives for the coming year. We are indebted to the Nominating Committee for their considerable work in discerning the needs of these various committees and finding the right people to serve. Looking at that list, I see much prayerful searching and hard work accomplished. Thanks!

I also see the names of so many members and attenders here at First Friends who have agreed to serve our Meeting in so many important ways. This is a time of renewal and hope in our Meeting. It's important to keep building our momentum. I feel gratitude toward all who have answered the Meeting's call to share their time, energies, and gifts so generously. There are new people coming into service for the first time. There are also long-time members who are shifting their energies into new channels and challenges. And there are others continuing with the roles they undertake best for us. To all of you, thanks!

Finally, and most of all, thanks be to God, who has blessed First Friends so richly with so many gifted individuals, and who has inspired so many to serve. God is doing a wonderful thing in our midst. Our committee structure is in some ways only an institutional form. Yet, like our building, that form is a container that, when it's working well, channels and optimizes Christ's Spirit moving among us. Committees are groups of committed Friends, channeling their energies into making the body of Christ alive and well in our corner of God's creation. I look forward to the Lord's new work through us in the months ahead.
